Summer Waves Dresser
Things you will Need:
- 3 Drawer Dresser that will fit the dimensions of the Pineapple O’verlay
- The Pineapple O’verlay
- Painter’s Tape
- Rustoleum Spray Paint in Ocean Mist
- Rustolem Spray Paint in hammered Gold
- Your choice of adhesive for the O’verlay such as Loctite Quick Set Epoxy or LiquidNails 100% clear Silicone Adhesive
Instructions:
Step 1: Clean and prep dresser according to the paint manufacturers instructions.Take the painter’s tape and horizontally tape every
side of the dresser and drawer fronts leaving only about 1/8” in between each
piece of tape. (DO NOT press down on the tape too much, it will need to be
shifted throughout the process)
Step 2: Start at one end of each piece of tape and rip
horizontally the entire way slightly pulling the tape in different directions
to create the wave effect.
Take the other half of tape and place it ¼”-1” away from the other half. If desired, rip the piece of tape into 3 sections and flip the pieces of tape upside down to create a more random and slimmer wave effect.
Although some pieces of tape may not rip perfectly, small leftover pieces can be used to overlap others to complete a line of tape across the dresser.

The unripped pieces of tape will most likely need to be moved/shifted throughout the process.
Continue to do this for every piece of tape until the entire dresser is taped for the desired pattern.

Step 3: IMPORTANT!: Firmly press down all of the tape so no edges are
lifted to avoid the spray paint dripping
Step 4: Using a tropical blue colored paint, we used Rustoleum Spray Paint in Ocean Mist, shake the
spray paint and hold about 6 inches away from the parts of the dresser not
covered by tape and spray in even, slow movements according to the manufacturers instructions, until every exposed area is
covered in paint.
Step 5: Wait about 10-15 minutes and slowly peel each piece
of tape off. Once all of the tape is peeled off allow the paint to dry
completely.
Step 6: Clean O'verlays with rubbing alcohol as suggested in the O'verlays application instructions. Paint each Piece of the Pineapple O’verlay with gold paint. We used Rustoleum Hammered Gold Spray Paint for a more textured and metallic look. Shake the spray paint can and hold it 6
inches away from the O’verlay spraying in even and slow strokes according to the manufacturers instructions making sure
everywhere is covered including all of the sides and edges.
Step 7: Wait until everything is completely dry. Apply your choice of adhesive according to the manufacturers instructions on the back surface of each piece of the pineapple O’verlay.
Find the center of the drawer faces on the dresser and press down each piece of the O’verlay (the side of the O’verlay with the adhesive should be facing down) onto the drawer faces, lining up each piece of the pineapple until the full shape is completed.
